JAMMU, Dec 30: Model Institute of Engineering and Technology (MIET), Kot Bhalwal organized the 10th edition of Alumni Meet “Connexions” at Hotel KC Orchid, here.
Over 75 alumni working in top multi-nationals, public sector, defense services and entrepreneursparticipated in the event.
The highlight of the event was the “Excellence in Action” Alumni Awardspresented to select alumni who have significant professional achievements to their credit. This year eleven alumni were selected by a selection committee comprising experts from industry and academia and felicitated under various categories. The alumni who received the Excellence in Action award included Ankit Sharma (Lieutenant Colonel), Randeep Singh Bhau (Manager, SMVD), Ajay Kumar Sharma (Head Purchasing, Motherson), Nidhi Gupta (SAP, USA), Deepak Koul (TCS, Germany), Shwait Verma (Axis Bank) , Vishwajeet Singh, Piyush Dahotra, Swati Gupta, Nishuand Vishesh Kapoor (All KAS officers).
The award ceremony was followed by a cake-cutting ceremony by the alumni of 1999 batch to mark the completion of 20 years of their association with the institution.
The MIET alumni meet has an impressive geographical footprint as it was attended by alumni working at USA, Germany, Canada, Singapore, Dubai, Bangalore, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Delhi-NCR, Pune andJammu.MIET has a total alumni strength of 3000 with over 1400 alumni associated with the Corporate sector. Over 400alumni are currently working outside India in top companies include Google, Amazon, Apple, Cisco and Salesforce in the USA.
Prof.Ankur Gupta, Director, MIET presented an overview of the institution and recent achievements at MIET.
He encouraged the alumni to form a strong and active network on the lines of alumni networks of IIT Delhi and BITS Pilani with deeper engagement with the Alma Mater.
Prof SK Sharma, Director, Academics, MIET described the Alumni as the strength of MIET and encouraged them to give back to MIET. He also briefed everyone regarding the activities carried out by the MIET Alumni Chapters at Bengaluru and USA. Alumni fondly reminisced about the time spent at MIET and brainstormed on different initiatives on giving back to MIET.
