KATHUA, Dec 30: Jammu Sanskriti School (JSS) Kathua celebrated Annual Sports Meet with zeal and enthusiasm at Sports Stadium, here today.
OP Bhagat, Deputy Commissioner Kathua was the chief guest on the occasion, while Ramnish Gupta, Additional SP Kathua was the guest of honour.
Jury Members to assess the Best Marching Squad were Majid Mehboob, DySP Headquarters and KD Bhagat (DySP DAR) along with special guests including TR Mangotra (CEO Kathua), Sunil Kumar (District Sports Officer), Dr Balwinder Singh (Physical Director GDC Kathua), S. Iqbal Singh (Manager District Sports Stadium Kathua), Sharad ( Inspector cum Athlete who lead the Indian Athletic Team), Pankaj Sapolia (Judo Coach), Radhey Kumar Central Sports (BSF) who created record in World Police and Fire Games held at Chengdu in China.
The event started with the release of balloons paying a tribute to the honest spirit of each sportsperson and further lighting the ceremonial torch heralded a propitious start to the day.
The event was followed by the spectacular impressive and well synchronised march past by all the four houses namely Wisdom, Passion, Optimism, Harmony led by the Head Boy Nishkarsh Tak And Head Girl Aditi Khajuria followed by the colossal oath taking ceremony.
The first rank was bagged by passion house and runners-up trophy was bagged by Optimism House.
To invoke the blessing of lord Shiva for the success of the event a magnificent Shiv Tandav was presented by the students. A mesmerizing yoga performance was showcased by Sanskritians which enthralled the audience.
The highlights of the sports day were the splendid field drills involving mass student participation in events such as Aerobics and Zumba.
The100 metre race, spoon race, sack race, balloon race, bangle race, shot put, javelin throw, rope skipping race, 200 metre race added the athletic spark to the event.
Further multi facet cultural demonstrations projecting the rich cultural heritage of India was indeed captivating and rejoicing.
The chief guest and the guest of honour lauded the efforts of the school management for brilliant show.
The event concluded with Aditi Khajuria, Head Girl of the school proposing the vote of thanks.
