MIER celebrates 83rd Foundation Day

JAMMU, Nov 4: Model Institute of Education and Research (MIER) celebrated its 83rd Foundation Day today.
On the occasion, an impressive programme on the theme “Umang Tarang” was organized by the institute at its BC Road campus.
The chief guest on the occasion was Khurshid Ahmad Ganai, Advisor to the Governor, while Chairperson, Vice Chairperson, Directors, Joint Directors and other senior officers of the Institute were also present.
Advisor paid homage to the Founders of MIER late Prof HL Gupta and Shanti Gupta by laying floral wreaths at their portrait. He inaugurated the programme by lighting the lamp of learning.
Chairperson MIER and noted educationist Dr Arun K Gupta presented the welcome address and expressed his gratitude to one and all for giving full support to MIER for 83 years in the achievement of its noble educational objectives.
An impressive cultural programme was presented by the students of the school and the college. It commenced with paying rich tribute to Goddess Saraswati by the choir group of MIER. The little angels of Humming Buds captured the attention of the audience with their Zumba dance performance highlighting fun and fitness. Different dances of the world performed by the students of the primary and middle wing namely: Hawaiian, Russian, Mexican, Chinese and Indian, which were greatly appreciated by one and all. A dance Ballet “Tu Chal” on the theme Women Empowerment by the girl students of MIER College brought home the sensitization towards women who are riding on the wings of development and looking up with great hope for their future. The budding actors of the primary wing presented a fairy tale story titled “Shoemaker and Elves” followed by a breath taking dance performance on “Sports Legends of India” depicting the pride of our sports stars who won accolades in different sports in recent international games. A Hasya Natak by the students of drama club namely “Adhunik Yamlok” highlighted the corruption in the society. Filling the air with patriotism, senior secondary students presented a Kavi Goshti in which they paid tribute to farmers, soldiers and freedom fighters followed by a Quawali by the students showcasing unity in diversity.
In felicitation ceremony, mementoes were also presented to the students of the school who excel in academics and won medals at the State and national level sports and other co-curricular activities by the Advisor.
In the end, vote of thanks was presented by Dr Adit Gupta, Director, MIER.
