JAMMU, Feb 13: To commemorate the completion of 77 glorious years of dedicated service in the field of education, Model Institute of Education and Research (MIER) celebrated its Foundation Day, here today.
An impressive and colourful function was organized by the institute at its BC Road campus on this occasion.
BR Kundal, former Chief Secretary and Member Legislative Council J&K State was the chief guest on the occasion, while other luminaries who graced the occasion were the members of the Board of Directors, high-ranking officials, social activists, prominent citizens and large number of parents of the students of various wings of the institute.
Two tiny tots of Model Academy presented bouquet to the Chief Guest and thereafter, the chief guest paid rich homage to the Founders of MIER late Prof H L Gupta and Prof Shanti Gupta by laying floral wreaths at their portrait.
Earlier, Dr Arun K Gupta presented welcome address.
An impressive cultural programme was presented by the students of Humming Buds, both branches of Model Academy and MIER College of Education. The cultural programme commenced with a tribute to the Goddess of Knowledge in the form of a Saraswati Vandana which mesmerized the audience. The little angels of Humming Buds performed on the famous dance number ‘I got to Move it Move it’ and their favourite nursery rhymes. The school students presented skits, dance performances on various themes along with a unique item of Sur Sarita which was a vocal cum instrumental performance by the school students learning various musical instruments. A fusion dance by the B Ed students depicting the integration of various States had the audience tapping their feet.
Mr Kundal, in his address lauded the role of MIER in spreading quality education and for producing enlightened citizens equipped with the necessary skills to assume leadership role in all walks of life.
Later-on, Dr Adit Gupta, Joint Director MIER presented vote of thanks.
