JAMMU, Apr 5: MGCA Reds registered 1-wicket win over MGCA Blues in the 2-day practice match organized by Mayank Goswami Cricket Academy here.
Earlier, put into bat on a true cricketing surface, MGCA Blues scored a decent total of 255 runs in 66 overs. Suryansh Raina was the top scorer with 70 runs, studded with 10 crispy boundaries, while Sahil Lotra contributed 63 with the help of 9 fours.Yudhamanyu and Anubhav also chipped in with 42 and 22 runs respectively, hitting 4 boundaries each. Extras contributed 21 runs to the total. For MGCA Reds, Vijay Dogra was the wrecker-in-chief who scalped 4 important wickets by conceding 47 runs in 17 overs, while Mohit Gupta and Ajay Sharma claimed 2 wickets each.
In reply, MGCA Reds chased the required target in 68.2 overs by losing 9 wickets, thus won the match by one wicket. Left-handed batsman, Mohit Gupta scored a magnificent century, scoring 106 runs with the help of 10 fours and 5 sixes. Vijay Dogra also scored brilliant 52 runs with the help of 10 fours and one six, while Surya Mahotra and Pushpinder Singh Manhas also chipped in with 28 and 25 runs respectively, hitting 5 boundaries each. Extras contributed 23 runs to the total. For Blues, Shubam Pundhir was the pick of the bowlers, who captured 6 wickets by conceding 45 runs in his 17 overs, while Dheeraj Sharma claimed 2 and Sahil Lotra picked one. For his brilliant century, Mohit Gupta of MGCA Reds was adjudged man of the match.
According to the organizers, a series of 2-day matches will be organized by the Academy to help the budding players showcase their talent and skill in the longer version of the game.
