Men’s Ice Hockey Team excels in 9th Asian Winter Games

LEH, Mar 12: Men’s Ice Hockey Team from Ladakh has returned from Harbin, China, after competing in 9th Asian Winter Games.
Representing India on such a grand stage, the team secured historic victory against Macau, China, in their debut appearance.
Chairman/CEC, LAHDC Leh, Tashi Gyalson felicitated each player for outstanding achievement.
“Competing and winning at the Asian Winter Games is a monumental achievement. The Council has always supported the development of Ice Hockey in Ladakh, from providing infrastructure and equipments to extending incentives for our players,” he said highlighting the ongoing efforts to bring national recognition to the sport.
The CEC further talked about Ice Hockey’s potential in promoting sports tourism in Ladakh.
As a token of appreciation, a cash reward of Rs. 2,50,000 was announced for the team.
The CEC also briefed the team about Lieutenant Governor Brig. (Dr.) B.D Mishra’s crucial role in making their participation in China, possible.
“We will continue to work towards strengthening the sports ecosystem in our region and ensuring that Ice Hockey gets the recognition it deserves at the national level,” the CEC maintained.
