Mehjoor scalps 6 wkts as Sports Council XI enters finals of CM’s Cup

JAMMU, Mar 30: Genuine fast bowler, Mehjoor Ali plotted collapse of the formidable Simula Cricket Club to help Sports Council XI seal berth in the finals of the ongoing 1st State Level 50-Overs Cricket Tournament for Chief Minister’s Cup, being organized by Sports Council in collaboration with Country Cricket Club at Gharota, here.
Earlier, winning the toss and batting first, Sports Council XI managed to score 189 runs after Satish Kumar demolished the top-order batting lineup. Magnificent half-centuries by Abid Nabi (51) and Manzoor Dar (51) helped the team to reach somewhat respectable total of 189 runs. For Simula, Satish Kumar was the pick of the bowlers, who took 5 important wickets, while Shashi Kumar bagged 2 and Raman Dutta claimed one.
In reply, Simula Cricket Club bundled out for paltry total of 130 runs. Atul Sharma (31), Shashi Kumar (21), Puneet Kumar (20), Hardeep Singh (17) and Vivek Thappa (17) were the main contributors.
Mehjoor Ali Sofi was the wrecker-in-chief, who took 6 important wickets, while Mujtaba Rizvi took 2 wickets and Nadeem Dar claimed one. Mehjoor Ali was declared as man of the match.
The Sports Council XI will now take on JCC in the finals of the Tournament.
Sadiq Hussain and Amit Gupta were the umpires.
