Media XI trounce Sterlite CC by 4 runs in friendly match

JAMMU, Sept 4: Media XI overcame the last-minute blues to pip Sterlite Cricket Club (SCC) by four runs in a friendly cricket match played at Railway Cricket Ground, here today.
Led by skipper Mir Imran, Media XI won the toss and elected to bat first before they laboured hard to post 134 runs by losing 8 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs.
Sunil Bali with 28 runs off 25 balls and Iliyaz Malik with 24 runs played calculated innings to provide Media XI a solid start as they were on 64 runs before the Captain Sterlite Cricket Club Irfan eliminated Sunil Bali in the 9th over of the inning.
Faheem Tak scored 23 runs and constructed well the innings for the Media XI who with the help of Amit Kumar by 19 runs in 8 balls blitz in the death overs managed to post 134 runs at the loss of eight wickets on a slow track.
Irfan alongwith Amandeep Singh remained the pick of the bowlers for Sterlite Cricket Club who shared 2 wickets each.
Later, bowling unit of Media XI put on a collective effort to restrict Sterlite Cricket Club four runs short at the end of their innings.
Sterlite made a dismal start to the stiff run-chase as their batting order proved hapless against the tricky spin bowling by Achit who alongwith Rahul Khatri kept Sterlite Cricket Club starving for runs.
Skipper Irfan played some good shots but he didn’t get the needed support from rest of the batsmen that earned Sterlite a four runs drubbing against Media XI.
Achit Sharma who clinched 3 crucial wickets in the middle order remained the pick of the bowlers for Media XI and was adjudged as Man of the Match.
