JAMMU, May 5: Media Cricket Club Jammu registered a thrilling victory over Dogra Warriors by 2 runs at Forest Ground Sidhra, here today.
Vivek Suri, captain Media Cricket Club won the toss and elected to bat first but his decision backfired as wickets fell in a heap and team lost 6 wickets at 46 runs but stylish left hand batsman Fahim was having other ideas and he shared important partnerships first with Amit Kumar of 50 runs and then with Ashish Singh of 43 runs taking the score of MCC to 140 runs in stipulated 20 overs.
Fahim Tak scored 43, Amit 27 and Ashish contributed 20 valuable runs. For Dogra Warriors Deepak Jamwal took 3 wickets, Sonu Malhotra and Koushal shared 2 wickets each and Dada bagged 1 wicket.
Chasing 141 to win in 20 overs, Dogra Warriors too got an early blow as Vivek Suri got rid of Ravi but Rajesh and Rohit Bhagat kept the run rate in check and shared 58 runs partnership before Rohit was out on 21 runs.
With the match hanging on both sides as Dogra Warriors needed 20 runs in 28 balls and then 9 runs in the last 6 balls, Media Cricket Club Jammu bowlers gave a spirited performance with the ball and restricted Dogra Warriors from chasing the score and registered a nail biting victory by 2 runs.
For Dogra Warriors, Rajesh scored 65 and Deepak contributed 24 runs. From bowling side (Media Cricket Club) Vivek Suri, Rahul Khatri, Fahim and Man Singh shared 1 wicket each. Fahim Tak of Media Cricket Club Jammu was declared as Man of the Match for his brilliant performance.
