Mathematics, Zoology Deptts register victories

JAMMU, May 7: Mathematics and Zoology Departments registered wins over their rivals in the Inter-Departmental Cricket Tournament, being organized by the Department of Sports and Physical Education, which got underway at University of Jammu, here today.
In the first match, Department of Mathematics defeated Department of English by a big margin of 47 runs.
Batting first, Department of Mathematics scored a good total of 110 runs in 10 overs. Tarun Sharma top scored with 47 runs, Ravi and Hatinder contributed 15 and 14 runs to the total respectively. For English Department, Mehraj took 2 wickets, while Sohail and Vikrant claimed one wicket each.
In reply, English Department bundled out for a paltry total of 63 runs in 9 overs, thus lost the match by 47 runs. Sohail and Avinash were the only two batsmen to cross double figure mark, scoring 11 and 10 runs respectively. Tarun and Avinash took 2 wickets each, while Raman and Shubham claimed one wicket each for Mathematics Department.
In another match, Zoology Department prevailed over the Department of Bio-Technology in a close contest by a narrow margin of 5 runs.
Zoology Department scored 97 runs in 10 overs. Sushant and Sajid Javaid contributed 39 and 29 runs to the total respectively. For Bio-Technology Department, Pawan took 4 wickets, while Sajjad claimed 2 wickets.
In reply, Bi-Technology Department managed to score 92 runs in 10 overs, thus lost the match by a narrow margin of 5 runs. Umar, Deepak and Suwaid contributed 26, 21 and 20 runs to the total respectively. For Zoology Department, Shubam took 2 wickets, while Rajan and Amit shared one wicket each.
