JKSC hands over venue to organisers for maintenance

JAMMU, Oct 21: The schedule and fixture for the highly anticipated Legend League Cricket (LLC), which is set to take place in Jammu for the first time, has been announced here today.
After a period of over 30 years, the residents of Jammu will finally have the opportunity to see accomplished cricketers in action during the upcoming Legend League Cricket season. This exciting event is planned to take place in five different Indian cities, including the ‘City of Temples’ Jammu. The last international match was played here way-back in 1988 between India and New Zealand.
Legends League Cricket (LLC) announced the complete schedule and fixtures for the highly anticipated upcoming 2023 season which will commence from November 18 till December 9. This year’s Legends League Cricket will be a six-team event and the teams are Bhilwara Kings led by Irfan Pathan, India Capitals led by Gautam Gambhir, Gujarat Giants led by Parthiv Patel, Manipal Tigers led by Harbajan Singh, Southern Super Stars led by former Australian captain Aaron Finch and Urbanrisers Hyderabad led by Suresh Raina. The tournament will be played across five cities in India, Ranchi, Dehradun, Jammu, Vizag and Surat.
The inaugural match of Legend League Cricket is scheduled to kick off on November 18 in Ranchi, where the India Capitals will take on the Bhilwara Kings. This game promises to be a thrilling encounter, as it is a replay of the 2022 final, where India Capitals had defeated Bhilwara Kings by 104 runs to lift the coveted trophy.
Overall, 19 matches will be played across country in 22 days in what promises to be an exciting tournament. In Jammu, four matches will be played. The first match will be played on November 27 between Manipal Tigers and Southern Super Stars, the second match on November 29 between Bhilwara Kings and Southern Super Stars, the third match November 30 between India Capitals and Gujarat Giants and last match will be played on December 1 between Bhilwara Kings and Urban Risers Hyderabad in Jammu.
The knockout phase of Legend League Cricket will be played in Surat, with the semi-finals taking place on December 5 and December 6, setting the stage for the grand season finale, which is scheduled to be held on December 9 in Surat.

While, Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council (JKSC) by issuing an order has also handed over the venue to organisers for maintenance of cricket pitch and repair work of halls and rooms. Recently, an organizing committee team of Legends League Cricket headed by former international cricketer, Nikhil Chopra, Delhi Cricket Association’s (BCCI) pitch curator, Ankit Dutta and event Manager Deepak Raina visited Jammu and met with team of JKSC to review the venue and today the venue has been officially handed over to them for maintenance work.
Ranjeet Kalra, Member J&K UT Sports Council when contacted said, “We are glad that the Legends League Cricket organising committee thought of Jammu to be one of the venues for the high profile tournament. The Sports Council under direction from Secretary, Nuzhat Gull has also issued orders today in support of the organisers for carrying on maintenance and pitch curation for the event without disturbing normal sports activities of players. The Sports Council under the leadership of Lieutenant Governor as its President, Manoj Sinha is committed to the promotion of sports & argumentation of infrastructure.” “Events like these shall not only bring Jammu into focus but shall also serve as an inspiration to players.” Kalra added.
