*Manandeep & Ketan claim Junior Boys Doubles title

JAMMU, May 11: Manandeep and Ketan crushed Ritvik and Asad and claimed Junior Boy’s Doubles title in the ongoing 1st Stag Jammu Open Table Tennis Championship here today.
In the first frame, Manandeep and Ketan defeated Ritvik and Asad by 11-7, whereas in the second frame, latter registered win by 11-9.
In the third frame, Manandeep and Ketan again registered win by 11-8, whereas in the fourth frame, Ritvik and Asad equalized the game by winning the set by 11-6.
In the decider frame, Manandeep and Ketan registered win by 11-7 and claimed the title of Junior Boys Doubles.
Meanwhile, Manandeep and Vishal Ghai thrashed their rivals in the semis and will lock horns in the Men Singles final tomorrow.
In the first semis, Manandeep smashed Gurvinder by straight 3-0 frames and registered berth in the final. In the first frame, Manandeep crushed Gurvinder by 11-9 and also claimed the second set by 11-9.
In the third set, Manandeep again thrashed Gurvinder and registered win by 11-8.
In the second semifinal, Vishal Ghai trounced Sandeep by 11-6, 13-11, 8-11 and 11-9.
Earlier, Manmeet Kaur, former State Champion and India ranked player visited the academy alongwith her husband Inder Pal Singh and witnessed the semifinal match played between Manandeep Singh and Gurvinder Singh.
Speaking on the occasion, Manmeet Kaur has asked the academy management to hold Veteran Open Championship in the academy for which she offered her participation.
Management has assured Manmeet Kaur to hold the event in coming summer vacation in which Veteran Men’s, Veteran Women’s alongwith Doubles and Mixed double event would be conducted.
All the matches played today were conducted under the supervision of Ramesh Magotra, senior Table Tennis Coach, Menu Ragesh and Varinder Khajuria.
