Dhruv stars as RCC Srinagar thrashes NCC to lift 2nd Tawi Cup

JAMMU, May 11: First-Class cricketer Dhruv Mahajan slammed splendid half-century and took 2 crucial wickets to help RCC Srinagar thrash NCC Jammu by 35 runs to lift the 2nd Jammu Tawi Premier T20 Cricket Cup, organized by Jammu Tawi Cricket Club at M A Stadium, here today.
Saif-ud-Din Soz , President PCC J&K was the chief guest on the valedictory function, while Raman Bhalla, Minister for Housing, Horticulture, Culture and Youth Services and Sports was the guest of honour. The chief guest and the guest of honour distributed trophies and cash prize among the winners and runners-up teams. Hari Singh, Vice President PCC was the special guest.
Speaking on the occasion Mr Soz said that the coalition Government is leaving no stone unturned in developing sports infrastructure in the state and assured the organizers of all help in promoting sports and games .
Earlier, winning the toss and batting first, RCC Srinagar rode on a brilliant batting performance by Dhruv Mahajan to score a decent total of 165 runs in the stipulated 20 overs, losing 7 wickets in the process. Dhruv scored fabulous 61 runs off 42 balls, studded with 10 delectable boundries, while Satish Kumar and Puneet Kumar contributed 30 and 26 runs respectively. Ishan Gupta and Amandeep Singh chipped in with 17 and 10 runs respectively. For NCC, Deepak Singh Manhas was pick of the bowlers, scalping 3 important wickets by conceding 26 runs in his 4 overs while Kavaljeet Singh took 2 wickets and Vijay Dogra claimed 1 wicket.
In reply NCC bundled out for 130 runs in 18.1 overs. Kavaljeet top scored with 31 runs while Gokul Baru, Sagar Gupta, Inderjeet Singh and Vijay Dogra contributed 23, 20, 16 and 15 runs respectively. For RCC Dhruv Mahajan, Kuldeep Kumar and Satish Kumar took 2 wickets each, while Amandeep claimed 1 wicket. For his magnificent all round show, Dhruv Mahajan was adjudged man of the match.
The match was officiated by Sadiq Hussian Malik, Sohail Yusuf, Rajinder Singh and Bunty Kumar, while the tournament was organized under the overall supervision of organizing committee including Raja Vivek, president, Sanjeev Sharma, general secretary Youth Congress J&K, Neeraj Sharma, Shashi Paul, organizing Secretary and Rajesh Dhar, convener technical committee.
