POONCH, June 8: Poonch Panthers won the opening match of the Major Rohit Memorial Twenty20 Cricket Tournament, organised by 39 RR of the Indian Army at Sports Stadium, here today.
As per the reports reaching here, Poonch Panthers defeated Surankot Shazad by 47 runs. Batting first, Panthers set a target of 135 runs. Deepu Sharma scored 34 runs while Jonty contributed 28.
In reply, Surankot Shazad bowled out for 87 runs to lose the tie. Anushish took three wickets from Poonch Panthers thereby halted Surankot march towards the goal.
Meanwhile, skipper of winners Poonch Panthers, Parvaiz Malik Afridi thanked 39 RR for hosting the tournament.
