KATHUA, May 18: The Maiden Open Badminton Tournament (MOBT-2K23) concluded at Kathua Campus, University of Jammu, here today.
A total of 85 participants including students from Campus, Schools and Colleges participated along with citizens of Kathua and Jammu also participated in the four categories viz. Men’s Single, Men’s Double, Women’s Single and Women’s Double.
The first position in Men’s Single category was clinched by Achal Rajesh from Army Public School, Kathua by defeating Ayush Kumar Sinha from CTM Staff Colony, Kathua by (21-16) points, whereas in Women’s Single category, Riya Jasrotia from GDC Kathua finished first after defeating Priya from Dayala Chak by (21-08) points.
In Men’s Double, the first prize was won by Antriksh Jasrotia and Abijeet Jasrotia from Janglote after defeating Nitish and Pranav from Kathua by (21-13) points, whereas in Women’s Double, Riya Jasrotia and SakshiAndotra from GDC Kathua were the winners who beat Ridham Pathania and NitikaJawalia from Jammu Sanskriti School, Kathua by (21-14) points.
Dr. Meenakshi Kilam, Rector, Kathua Campus, University of Jammu appreciated the efforts of Campus Sports Committee for successfully organizing the maiden open badminton tournament. She reiterated that the infrastructure of Kathua Campus (JU) is open for the youth of the region for practicing sports.
The invited guests were Pardeep Singh Salathia, Physical Director, GDC Marheen, Sandeep Sharma, Physical Director, GDC Basohli, Ajay Sharma, Inspector, J&K Police, Srishti Mohan Sharma, Member, Badminton Association Kathua, Shabeel Ahmed, General Secretary, Powerlifting Association Kathua, Guljar Ahmed, General Secretary, Kabaddi Association Kathua, Naresh Kumar Sharma, President, Badminton Association Kathua and Manoj Sangra, ex-player, Officers Club, Kathua.
Earlier, Dr. Sourabh Shastri, convener of Sports CommitteeKathua Campus (JU) welcomed the guests and participants.
Dr. Zaheen Ansari, organizing secretary MOBT-2K23 delivered a vote of thanks whereas Ritika Goyal coordinated the valedictory ceremony.
