KISHTWAR, June 4: To bring Kishtwar on national football map, maiden CVPPL Kishtwar Football Cup, organized by district administration Kishtwar in collaboration with District Youth Services and Sports Department (DYSS) commenced here today.
The tournament was sponsored by Chenab Valley Power Projects Limited (CVPPL) and was inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner, Kishtwar, Dr. Devansh Yadav, who was chief guest on the occasion.
Senior Superintendent of Police, Kishtwar; Khalil Ahmed Poswal and Sajjad Ahmed Najjar, President of Municipal Council Kishtwar were guests of honour while the special guests were HOP CVPPL, Ramesh Mukhiya; general manager NHIDCL, G.S Sahu besides other HEPP authorities, president Senior Citizens Forum Kishtwar, Roshan Lal Parihar and Station House Officer (SHO), Kishtwar, Abid Bukhari.
DC Kishtwar, Dr. Devansh Yadav emphasized that this historic inter-state sports event is a significant milestone for Kishtwar.
He welcomed teams from Kashmir, Jammu, Delhi and Uttar Pradesh and said that annual Inter-State Football Tournament will be held at Kishtwar.
SSP Kishtwar, Khalil Ahmed Poswal commended the initiative of district administration and shed light on numerous health benefits of sports in an individual’s life.
He informed the audience about upcoming weightlifting championship scheduled to be held on June 10 and 11.
Meanwhile, two matches were played today between Lone Star Kashmir and Jammu FC in first session and between Kashmir FC and Sudeva Delhi FC in 2nd session.
The inauguration ceremony was officiated by Zorawar Singh and Javeed Sheikh (PET) of Sports Department.
