Mahika among 33 Jammu students excel as State toppers

JAMMU, June 18: Science Olympiad Foundation (SOF) organized 16th International Award ceremony at New Delhi to felicitate the International winning students, teachers and Principals of Olympiad exams for the academic year 2012-13.
During the felicitation programme, Mahika Koul of Heaven Kingdom School was among 33 Jammu students, who had excelled as State toppers in the International Olympiad 2013.
On the occasion, Former Chief Justice of India, Justice RC Lahoti was chief guest, while Prof YS Rajan, Professor of ISRO and Chairman NIT Manipur was the guest of honour. Charlie Walker, Director Programmes, British Council India and Swami Nikhilananda Saraswati, Acharaya Chinmaya Mission were also present.
During the function, awards were given to the top 3 international rank holders from classes one to twelve for the 4 Olympiad exams conducted by SOF. Winners from classes 7 to 12 won Rs 50,000 each, the rank two holders won Rs 25000 each and rank 3 holders won Rs 10000 whereas, winners from classes one to 6 were awarded I-Pads. In addition, attractive gifts were given to all winners. The top 10 Principals and top 40 teachers whose students put up an excellent performance were also felicitated with cash awards, mementos and citations.
The Jammu topper awardees to receive prizes and medals were Mahika Koul from Heaven Kingdom High School, Advay Gupta, Devansh Magotra, Dhariti Kotwal, Shuvang Jandiyal and Pranav Krishan from KC International School, Uditi Verma, Vinod Gupta, Prabhnoor Singh, Ananya Sharma, Sushant Padha from Jodhamal Public School, Sparsh Jandial, Rishab Anand, Nadeem Aslam, Arnuv Rana, Danish Mehmood, Medhashree Bansal from Heritage School, Nalin Mujoo from Kendriya Vidyalaya No 1 School, Aabir S Wani from BSF Senior Secondary School, Shubham Attri from Banyan International School, Harsimran Singh from Army Public School and Pranav Krishan from KC Public School.
Justice RC Lahoti and Prof YS Rajan handed in valuable gifts and financial awards to the attendees.
Mahabir Singh, Founder and Executive Director of SOF said that 24,000 students from 1050 cities across India and 14 countries have been awarded for achieving top State level ranks. In addition, close to 3,50,000 students have been awarded “Medals of Excellence” for achieving top rank in their respective schools.
Certificate of participation and a performance report for each student and school has also provided, Singh.
