Lone announces Indoor Stadium, Computer Application & Commerce courses

JAMMU, Mar 3: Government Women College (GCW), Gandhi Nagar would have Bachelor Computer Application (BCA) and Commerce courses from next session, while the Government has also sanctioned an Indoor Stadium for the college.
This announcement was made by Minister for Higher Education Mohd Akbar Lone during Annual Day cum Prize Distribution function of the college.
He directed the Higher Education authorities to take up the matter with the concerned for early preparation of Detailed Project Report (DPR) in this pursuit so that the funds could be released.
Lone directed the Chief Executive Officer, Economic Reconstruction Agency (ERA) to start construction work on the gate immediately.
On the occasion Vision 2020 document was submitted to the dignitaries for their valuable suggestions.
Minister flanked by other dignitaries released annual News letters namely E-Odyssey by IQAC, Quest by Science Club, IRIS by Red Ribbon Club, Humanity by Red Cross Unit, Symphony by Language Club, Horizon Newsletter of the campus and Research Reporter by Research committee of the College.
A colourful cultural fusion of dances was presented by the students including suffiana dance, qawali, Dogri dance and songs. Skit named “Khilone Wali” based on unity in diversity, was highly appreciated by the audience.
Later the dignitaries gave away prizes to the outstanding students for their performance in various fields. Polini Singh was felicitated as the best student of the college.
Earlier, Principal of the college, Dr Kiran Bakshi presented the welcome address, while Dr Sudhanshu Sharma, Staff Secretary of the College, presented vote of thanks.
Principal Secretary Higher Education KB Aggarwal, Special Secretary, Higher Education Hemant Sharma, Director Colleges, Nandini Kohli, besides Principals of various city Colleges, former Principals, teaching and non-teaching staff, parents, citizens and a large number of students of the college attended the function.
