POONCH, Nov 12: LOC Club thrashed its opponent Glamorous Club by seven wickets in the inaugural tie and sailed into the next round of the T20 Cricket Tournament, being organised by District Police under Civic Action Programme, here today.
Batting first, after winning the toss, Glamorous Club scored 140 runs in stipulated overs for all out. Kaka was the highest scorer with 35 runs.
For LOC Club side, Rizwan and Saizan scalped 3 wickets each.
In reply, LOC Club chased the target in allotted 20 overs for the loss of just three wickets. Asif played well and scored 50 runs (half century) and was equally supported by Rizwan, who chipped in 39 runs.
Rizwan of LOC Club was declared as man of the match.
In the second match of the day, YCC scored 249 runs for the loss of just 2 wickets in allotted 20 overs. Parvez Malik with the help of seven sixes and 17 boundaries, scored 134 runs in just 55 balls.
In the second inning, Azad Club failed to chase the target and bundled out at 150 runs for all out in 20 overs. Supreet scored 37 runs.
For YCC side, Wahid was the wrecker-in-chief who claimed 3 wickets, while, Bilal scalped one wicket.
The matches were officiated by Rajinder Singh and Kewal Krishan as umpires, while, Gurvinder maintained the scorecard.
Earlier, DSP DAR, MA Qureshi declared the tournament open, in presence of Mohd Tariq, convener of the tournament, officials from Police Department, local populace and sports lovers.
While speaking, MA Qureshi threw light on the importance of the sports and said that students should participate in the sports activities so as to keep their body mentally and physically fit.
