LoC Club Poonch wins Shaheed Manjit Singh Memorial Cricket title

POONCH, Mar 18: Outplaying YCC Poonch by a narrow margin of 12 runs in the summit clash, LoC Club Poonch clinched the title trophy of Shaheed Manjit Singh Memorial Cricket Tournament, here today.
Earlier, winning the toss and electing to bat first, LoC scored a good total of 192 in the allotted 20 overs. Israr Charak, Nawaz Rather and Aqib scored 42, 58 and 28 runs respectively. Khalid of YCC Poonch took 4 wickets.
In reply, YCC fought well but fell short of target by 12 runs, scoring 180/7 in the stipulated 20 overs. Amandeep Singh and Mittu scored 76 and 58 runs respectively.
S. Sabarwal, Deputy Commander 93 Inf. Brigrade was the chief guest on the occasion, who lauded the efforts of the organizers, especially Mohd Tariq, chairman of Shaheed Manjit Singh Volleyball Club Poonch in promoting sports and sportspersons.
He distributed the cash prizes and trophy among the teams on the occasion.
The winners were presented a cash prize of Rs 15,000, while the runners-up team got Rs 10,000 as the cash prize.
The matches were officiated by Javid Iqbal, Gurmeet Singh, Anish Tandon and Davinder Singh.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were Dr Saleem Buatt, Pardeep Khanna and Nirdosh Kumar Sharma, Manager Sports Stadium Poonch.
