JAMMU, Mar 22: Library and Information Science Department and the Department of History registered resounding victories over their rivals to move into the next round of the ongoing Inter-Department Cricket Tournament at University of Jammu, here.
In the first match, Lib and Info Department defeated Zoology Department in a close contest by 8 runs. Batting first, Lib and Information Science Department scored 100 runs in 15 overs. Arun, Naveen and Shubham contributed 31, 24 and 15 runs to the total. Tahir took 3 wickets, while Sourab, Irfan and Monty claimed one wicket each for Zoology Department.
In reply, Zoology Department scored 92 runs to lose the match by a narrow margin of 8 runs. Khalid top scored with 33 runs, while Tahir and Rohit contributed 22 and 15 runs respectively. Shiv took 2 wickets, while Shubham and Arun claimed one wicket each.
In another match, History Department defeated Geology Department by 8 wickets. Batting first, Geology Department, 105 runs in 15 overs. Vishal, Dalip Singh and Ajay Kumar scored 21, 19 and 13 runs respectively. Vikas, Tahir and Imran took 2 wickets each for History Department.
In reply, History Department chased the target in 13.3 overs by losing 2 wickets, thus won the match by 8 wickets. Imran scored a brilliant half century (57), while Prince and Rajiv contributed 22 and 12 runs respectively.
