JAMMU, Mar 17: The Departments of Economics and Law lifted the title trophies in the Inter Department Badminton Men and Women respectively, organized by the Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu at its Gymnasium Hall, here.
In Women Badminton Tournament final, Economics Department beat Geography Department by 2-0. In Singles, Prabhjyot Kour defeated Shagufta Saleem by 21-10, while in doubles, Prabhjyot and Sugandhi outplayed Shagufta and Sayed Fakhara by 21-09.
In Men Badminton final, The Law School defeated the Physical Education Department by 2-0. In Singles, Chander Dev Singh got better of Abhishek Sharma by 21-13, while in doubles, Chanderdev and Akeel Shah defeated Abhishek and Manmohan by 23-21.
The matches were officiated by Ravish Vaid, Gagan Kumar, Ankit, Nishla and Pushap.
Meanwhile in Inter Department Cricket (Men) Tournament, Geology Department drubbed English Department by 17 runs.
Batting first, Geography Department scored a decent total of 112 runs in the allotted 12 overs. losing 2 wickets in the process. Sunil scored handsome 54 runs off 35 balls, studded with 2 fours and 3 sixes, while Ajay contributed valuable 31 runs. For English Department, Varun bagged 2 wickets.
In reply, English Department managed to score 95 runs in 12 overs, thus lost the match by a narrow margin of 17 runs. Dheeraj and Rajat contributed 23 and 19 runs to the total. For Geography Department, Dalip and Aatish took 2 wickets each, while Ranbir, Rahul and Vishal claimed one wicket each.
The match was officiated by Saleem-Ur-Rehman, Sadiq Hussain Malik, Satpal and Rajkumar Bakshi, while all the matches are being organized under the supervision of Prof Dhian S. Bhau, Director, Directorate of Sports & Physical Education, University of Jammu.
