KISHTWAR, Apr 14: A first of its kind, a ‘Ladies Gym & Fitness Club’ was inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner, Ashok Sharma in presence of Senior Superintendent of Police, Shafqat Hussain Bhat and SHO Abid Bukhari at Char Chinar Kuleed Chowk, here today.
About 100 housewives, girls and media persons were present during the event. This highly fitted ladies Gym and Fitness Club named “KayaKalp” was set up by Manisha Manu, an author and first female journalist of District Kishtwar under the start up scheme.
Manisha Manu established this facility owing to the high demand of ladies, housewives and the young girls who are not comfortable to join the fitness centre designated for men.
The DC and SSP congratulated Manisha for her novel initiative in the field of women empowerment and self-reliance.
Manisha said that the motive behind establishing such facilities is to channelize the energy of the aspiring young girls in the right direction and sharpen their talent in sports and gymnasium avenues. The women folk of the area also appreciated the efforts of Manisha Manu for providing such a facility.
