JAMMU, Nov 4: The Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) Jammu Region created history by winning its first-ever medal in the KVS National Sports Meet (NSM) U-17 Cricket Tournament, clinching the bronze medal at Gandhi Nagar Stadium, Ahmedabad, Gujarat.
This remarkable achievement marked Jammu Region’s maiden podium finish in the history of KVS National Cricket Championships. In the third-place playoff, Jammu Region outplayed Jaipur Region by eight wickets to secure the bronze medal. Earlier, the team had displayed outstanding resilience and sportsmanship throughout the tournament.
Jammu Region’s journey began with a setback in the opening match, where they lost to Jabalpur Region by 9 wickets. However, the team bounced back strongly, defeating Guwahati Region by 2 wickets, with Lalit Shan named Man of the Match.
Continuing their winning momentum, Jammu defeated Chennai Region in the pre-quarterfinals by 10 runs, where Gartik Karlupia earned the Man of the Match title. In the quarterfinals, Jammu triumphed over Mumbai Region by 22 runs, with Suneer Thakur delivering a match-winning performance.
In the semi-final, Jammu fought hard but lost to Chandigarh Region by 6 wickets. Nevertheless, they made a strong comeback in the final match for third place, defeating Jaipur Region convincingly by 8 wickets, with Iqraz Khan being adjudged Man of the Match.
