KPPL: Akash, Aman hit fifties; Rahul, Amit spit venom

JAMMU, Nov 25: Talented opening batsman Akash Raina and gutsy middle-order batsman Aman Zutshi scored brilliant half-centuries, while Rahul Raina Jr and Amit Bhat were venomous with the ball, hitting good areas consistently to make the batsmen suffer as strong Milchar Cricket Club and Lal Ded Warriors thrashed their rivals in the ongoing Kashmiri Pandit Premier League (KPPL), being organised under the banner of Iqwaat Sports Organisation, an initiative of Vishva Kashmiri Samaj at MA Stadium, here.
Tarun Uppal, Chairman Nirbya Bharat Foundation was the chief guest in today’s matches, who later-on presented man of the match award to the winner.
Earlier, formidable Milchar Cricket Club scored a good total of 185 runs in the stipulated 20 overs, losing 5 wickets in the process. Aman Zutshi and Akash Raina send the rival bowlers on a leather hunt, hitting series of boundaries and sixes. Both of them were in sublime touch and struck the ball with fluid grace and utter brilliance. Aman scored 55 off 36 balls, while Akash scored 51 off 39 balls. Ishan Dhar and Mukul Rawal contributed valuable 21 runs each. For Fighters CC, Sagar Pandita captured 3 wickets, while Sunil Handoo claimed 2 wickets.
Fighters XI, in reply bundled out for a paltry total of 55 runs to lose the match by a huge margin. Ashi (11) and Abhishek (10) were the two batsmen who crossed double figure mark. For Milchar Cricket Club, Rahul Raina Jr was the wrecker-in-chief, who took 4 important wickets while Sumit Bhat claimed 3 wickets. For his brilliant bowling display, Rahul Raina Jr was adjudged as man of the match.
In another match, Lad Del Warriors defeated Martand Sunrisers in an easy contest by 7 wickets. Batting first, Martand Sunrisers scored a meagre total of 70 runs, while in reply, Lal Ded Warriors chased it easily in just 8.3 overs by losing only 3 wickets, thus won the match by 7 wickets. Amit Bhat was the star performer for Lal Ded Warriors, who took 4 important wickets, fetching him man of the match.
The matches were officiated by Sanjay Raina and Vijay Raina, while the tournament is being held under the supervision of Rajesh Dhar, Ankur Bagati and Ashish Kachroo.
