Khelo India Women’s Wushu League commences

JAMMU, Mar 28: The Khelo India Sub Junior Women’s Wushu League commenced here today.
The national level league was inaugurated by Dr Manu Bhatnagar as chief guest, while Chairperson of FICCI FLO J&K, Karvani Ritu Singh and Member of the J&K Sports Council Ranjeet Kalra were the guests of honour in the inaugural function.
Players from twenty one States and Union Territories are participating in the event. Nadeem Dar Dy. Director SAI and Suhail Ahmad also graced the occasion. The guests were welcomed by Mona Saraf on behalf of the Wushu Association of J&K.
Vijay Saraf, president J&K Wushu Association in his address gave an overview of the league. He thanked the J&K Sports Council and its Secretary Nuzzat Gull for their wholeheartedly support to the national level event.
The chief guest in her address appreciated the Sports Council, Wushu Association of J&K and the Sports Authority of India for organising the mega event. She also highlighted the stellar achievements of women athletes of J&K and those at the national and international level.
Dr Manu Bhatnagar also outlined the initiatives of Government of India and the successful events being held under the Khelo India Scheme.
Ritu Singh in her address expressed happiness on the holding of a national level women’s league at Jammu. She also spoke of Nari Shakti and that an all women’s sports event is being held in the pious Navratra days.
Earlier, Ranjeet Kalra, Member of the J&K Sports Council in his address welcomed the participating athletes on behalf of Secretary Sports Council Nuzhat Gull. He also outlined various sports initiatives being undertaken by the Council under the guidance of its president and Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha..
The guests were later felicitated by the presentation of souvenirs. A demonstration of Wushu was also presented by the players on the occasion.
