JAMMU, Dec 24: KC International School (KCIS) hosted 15th inter-school music competition ‘Sur-Sangam’ in which 15 reputed schools of Jammu participated and delivered their electrifying performances, here today.
Anupama Sharma (retd), HoD GCW Parade PG Department Music graced the occasion as chief guest and Brij Mohan, writer and music composer was the guest of honour. The guests were welcomed by senior vice chairman, Saroj Mahajan, president, Chaitanya Chowdhary and Principal Anupama Sinha.
Surinder Manhas, singer & music director as well as vocalist, Sunil Sharma, vocalist and music composer and Kamal Sharma, retired SP (Rhythmist /Dancer) were the judges of the event. The event was also graced by the benign presence of KCIS alumni Rhythm Chhatwal.
There were two categories namely group song and solo song for the students of classes VI to XII. The program started with invoking the heavenly blessings of almighty by lighting the ceremonial lamp followed by a mesmerizing welcome song and rhythmic dance performances.
The judges appreciated the musical tone and melodies of the students. In group song, KCIS clinched first position, while APS Kaluchak stood 2nd and 3rd position was won by KC Public School. Heritage School and Jammu Sanskriti bagged 1st and 2nd consolation prizes respectively.
In solo, KCIS stood 1st, Jammu Sanskriti and KC Public School bagged 2nd and 3rd positions respectively, while 1st and 2nd consolation prizes were won by Jodhamal and APS BD Bari, respectively.
The musical day concluded with the vote of thanks by Principal Anupama Sinha, who applauded students for the synchronization and prowess in music. She also appreciated the Music Department namely Mamta Kalotra and Michael, whereas the overall event was coordinated by Roma, Sonal, Arti Raina and Leena Kapoor.
The event culminated with the National Anthem.
