Kashmir United, Pirates FC seal berths in semis

JAMMU, Feb 6: Kashmir United and Pirates Football Club registered convincing victories to enter into the last four stage of the ongoing 3rd Christmas Soccer Championship for College Students and J&K Footballers, being organized jointly by J&K Police and Christian Sports Organization, under the supervision of Shakeel Beig, DIG Jammu and Fr Kuriakose, chairman Christian Sports Organization at GGM Science College football ground, here today.
The slogan of the tournament is “Be Healthy- Don’t Do Drugs”.
Parshotam Sharma, Deputy Director Prosecution RPHQ Jammu was the chief guest in today’s matches and was introduced with the participating team.
The chief guest was accompanied by Rajesh Gill, Coordinator; David Mattoo, organizing secretary, R P Singh and Man Mohit, Sr Prosecutor RPHQ.
Earlier, in the first match, Pirates FC defeated Young star Football Club by 2-1 goals. From the winners, the first goal was scored by Amit Sharma in 10th minute and second goal was netted by Vikas Thapa in 64th minute of the game, whereas the only goal scored from Young Star FC was pelted by Shivam  in 22nd  minute.
In the second match, Kashmir United defeated Kanwal Anantnag in a thrilling game by (7-6) via tie-breaker.
The officiating team included R P Singh, Gagan Kumar, Harneel Singh, Ranjay, Feroz, Bilal Ahmad and Javed Ahmad.
The organizing secretaries of the tournament are Asif Gill and David Mattoo, while Rajesh Gill is the Coordinator of the tournament.
In tomorrow’s fixture, Novelty Srinagar will take on Chenab Akhnoor at 1 pm in the first semifinal, while the second semifinal match will be played between Pirates FC and Kashmir United F C at 3 pm.
