Kashmir Mega Chess Festival concludes

SRINAGAR, Mar 31: Kashmir Mega Chess Festival which started on March 26 in all the 10 districts of the Valley at different schools, colleges and other venues concluded here today. Trainings, demonstrations and events were conducted at various locations in all the 10 Districts by Members of All Jammu and Kashmir Chess Association under the guidance and planning of Atul Kumar Gupta, President AJKCA.
About 10,000 players participated in various training camps and events held at various locations simultaneously in different districts.
According to Mr Atul, the most encouraging thing was the participation of girls.
The event was most hit in Shopian district where there was very high enthusiasm among the youth. The event was managed by Ashiq Ahmad Kolu along with all the members of Kashmir division of AJKCA.
The Festival was sponsored by J&K State Sports Council and initiated by its secretary Dr. Naseem Javaid choudhary
The dignitaries who inaugurated the events at various venues praised the great work by All J&K Chess Association in promoting sports culture and expressed hope that Chess will be useful in making smart and mentally sharp citizens. Chess is played in 186 countries.
Cash prizes worth Rs 1, 50, 000 along with 240 Medals will be distributed among the winners in mega function in the last week of April. Parents and players thanked the Government for such a big platform for youth.
