JAMMU, Nov 3: Kabaddi players drawn from various districts of the State today protested against jaundiced and ill selection policy of the Jammu and Kashmir Amateur Kabaddi Association in picking the team to represent the State in the forthcoming 64th Senior National Kabaddi Tournament.
The protesters said that the Association invited them for the selection trials at Floodlight Kabaddi Stadium, near MA Stadium, Jammu and left them in the lurch as no one from the Association reported them and they remained unattended.
They said that neither General Secretary of the Association, Kuldeep Kumar Gupta nor Kabaddi coach Ankush turned up for the trials, adding that that it has been learnt that the Association has selected the team.
The protesters included Parvez Ahmed Lone from Kupwara, Waseem Raja from Kupwara, Shabir Asudullah Dar from Kupwara, Shakeel Ali Akhoon from Srinagar, Keshav Singh, Amandeep Singh, Harpreet Singh and Shubam Dubey (All from Jammu).
Meanwhile, when contacted, Kuldeep Gupta said that proper selection trials were held and the team has been selected on merit. He said that the representation has been given to almost all districts of the State.
