Junior Warriors XI lifts Jammu Budding U-16 T20 Cricket title

JAMMU, Jan 11: Outplaying Budding Young Star Cricket Club by a big margin of 71 runs in the summit clash, Junior Warriors XI lifted the title trophy of the Jammu Budding Under-16 Boys T20 Cricket Tournament, organized by Jammu Tawi Cricket Club at GGM Science College Hostel ground, here.
Earlier, winning the toss and batting first, Junior Warriors rode on a splendid knock of 61 runs by Kanaihya Wadhawan and valuable contributions of 23 and 20 runs by Sarthak Peshin and Musaif Ajaz respectively, to set a decent target of 156 runs for Young Star Cricket Club, losing 6 wickets in the process. Kanaihya was in sublime touch and was well supported by Sarthak and Musaif. For Budding Young Star, Vishal, Ayush and Raghav claimed one wicket each.
In reply, Budding Young Star Cricket Club managed to score 85 runs in the allotted 20 overs by losing 5 wickets, thus lost the match by 72 runs. Raghav was the top scorer with 25 runs, while young Aarav Mahajan contributed unbeaten 22 runs. The stylish youngster, Aarav showed composure, promise, guts and grit in his unbeaten knock. Tallah also chipped in with 6 runs. For Junior Warriors, Ankush Gill took 2 wickets, while Sanat and Kanaihya claimed one wicket each.
Meanwhile, in 3rd Jammu Tawi Premier T20 Cricket Tournament, WCC defeated Secretariat Blue XI in a thrilling contest by one wicket. Batting first, Secretariat Blue XI scored a fighting total of 137 runs in 20 overs by losing 8 wickets. Zahoor top scored with 27 runs, while Bilal and Vijay contributed 24 and 20 runs to the total respectively. For WCC, Bharat took 2 wickets, while Deepu, Kamalpreet and Rahul claimed one wicket each.
In reply, WCC scored the reqired runs in 19.5 overs by losing 9 wickets in the process. Rahul was the top scorer with 27 runs, while Latif and Viraj contributed 26 and 23 runs respectively. Mushtaq and Sajad bagged 2 wickets each, while Sunil claimed one wicket for Secretariat Blue XI.
The matches were officiated by Saleem-ur-Rehman, Sadiq Hussain Malik, Rajinder Singh, Sandeep Manchanda and Vinod Kandyara.
In tomorrow’s fixture of quarterfinals, New Challenger will take on Krishna Cricket Club at 9 am, while RCC Srinagar will lock horns with Rising Star Cricket Club at 12: 30 pm.
