JAMMU, July 29: Defeating formidable sides of Simula Bulls and Sachdeva Leopards respectively, Surya Risers and Jumbo Gladiators have kept themselves alive for being the contenders for the play-offs in the ongoing Jammu and Kashmir Corporate Premier League (JKCPL) at MA Stadium, here today.
Earlier, in the first match, Surya Risers drubbed Simula Bulls by 24 runs in an easy contest. Batting first, Surya Risers scored 134 runs in 19.2 overs. Vikas Hathvala scored fabulous 46 runs, while Nitin Mehra and Rompy Sharma contributed 21 and 13 runs respectively. Jatinder Jasrotia captured 3 wickets, while Hilal Rather and Amandep claimed 2 wickets each.
In reply, Simula Bulls bundled-out for 110 runs in 19 overs. Shashi Kumar (28), Amandeep Singh (20) and Sameer Khajuria (19) were the main contributors. For Surya Risers, Nitin Mehra bagged 3 wickets, while Rompy Sharma and Vikas took 2 wickets each. Nitin Mehra was adjudged HDFC man of the match, while Vikas Hathvala got TCI maximum sixes award.
In another match, Jumbo Gladiators got better of Sachdeva Leopards by 16 runs in a close contest. Jumbo made 127 for 9 in 20 overs, with Parveen Singh top scoring with a brilliant knock of 45 runs, studded with 6 boundaries and 2 massive sixes, while Aditya Partap Singh contributed valuable 20 runs to the total. For Sachdeva Leopards, Javid and Asif Rasool scalped 2 wickets each, while Mohd Muddasir claimed one wicket.
In reply, Sachdeva Leopards scored 111 in 19.5 overs to lose the match by 16 runs. Asif Khan and Vimarsh Kaw were the main scorers. For Jumbo Gladiators, Left-arm spinner Raman Dutta was the pick of the bowlers who took 3 import wickets, while skipper Ramdayal bagged 2. Raman Dutta was declared HDFC man of the match, while Parveen Singh got TCI Maximum sixes award.
