Jugal inaugurates 41st Sr National Archery C’ship

JAMMU, Mar 22: Jugal Kishore Sharma, Member of Parliament (MP) Lok Sabha Jammu-Poonch and president Archery Association J&K inaugurated 41st Archery Championship at MA Stadium, here today.
Jugal Kishore was accompanied by Chander Mohan Gupta Mayor JMC, Pramod Chandurkar general secretary AAI, Dr Ashutosh Sharma president JKOA, Dushyant Sharma, general secretary JKOA, Sunil Sharma organizer and senior member of AAJK Association as well as Satya Narayan Andhra Pradesh Archery Association, Shyan Husaini, Sakteesh Chopra Manager J&K Sports Council and may others.
While speaking on at the occasion, the chief guest said that this Championship is going to be held in three rounds: Recurve, Compound and India Round and more than 42 teams including National & International will take part in the tournament.
He said that in recurve round 152 men and 118 women as well as 86 officials will take part, while in compound round, about 146 men, 106 women and 86 officials and and in Indian round 144 men, 101 women and 75 officials will participate in the championship.  “These teams have arrived from all over India which will boost sports, tourism and spread the culture of Jammu and Kashmir all over India,” he said.
The MP said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, sports activities are booming in Jammu and Kashmir as well as various tournaments are being organized for promoting games and sports in Jammu.
The Mayor and Patron of Archery Association J&K congratulated the team for organizing such a mega event in Jammu and said that these mega events should be organised from time to time to spread culture and boost tourism of Jammu and Kashmir. He also urged the players and officers coming from various parts of India to spare their valuable time and visit the spots around Jammu.
