JU women enter semis

JAMMU, Oct 29: Outplaying Doon University Dehradun by (2-0) in the quarterfinals, University of Jammu entered into the last four stage of the North Zone Inter-University Badminton (Men and Women) Championship, being hosted by Jammu University at Gymnasium Hall, Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu, here.
Earlier, in other quarterfinals of the women section, PU Chandigarh beat Lucknow University Lucknow by (2-0), MDU Rohtak got better of LPU Phagwara by (2-1) and PTU Jalandhar prevailed over H P University, Shimla by (2-0).
In men’s section, MDU Rohtak outplayed CSJM University Kanpur by (3-0), Uttrakhand Technical University Dehradun defeated GGSIP Delhi by (3-2) and Kurukshetra University Kurukshetra drubbed Punjabi University, Patiala by (3-1) to enter into the semifinals.
All the matches were played under the supervision of Prof Dhian S Bhau, Director, Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu.
Prominent among others who were present on the occasion were Balbir Singh, Secretary, Jammu District Badminton Association; B K Magotra, H S Chib, Dr Brij Baloria, Romesh Sharma, Ravish Vaid, P D Singh, Jai Bharat, Gautam Sharma and Vikesh Sharma.
The matches were officiated by Krishan Gopal (Chief Referee), Jyoti Rajput, Shakeel Ahmed, J S Arneja, Anil Gurkha, Sunil Gurkha, Vikram Jamwal, Balbir Singh Jamwal and Amit Sharma.
