JAMMU, Feb 28:Jammu University team of Scholars has won second prize at North Zone Anveshan Programme and qualified for the national level contest.
The winners, namely Tahir Ali, Ritika Mansotra and Ayushi Verma, Research Scholars of Metagenomics Laboratory, School of Biotechnology, JU, today called on Vice Chancellor Prof Umesh Rai, who motivated them to think out of the box and propose innovative ideas for nation building.
The JU team got second prize in the area of Agricultural Sciences of Anveshan: Students Research Convention 2022 programme, which was held at Desh Bhagat University, Gobindgarh, Punjab on February 22, 2023. The team of scholars presented the idea of increasing saffron corm and stigma quality by evaluating the delivery method of Bacillus sp. strain D5 at the zonal level.
These scholars were shortlisted by University Screening Committee headed by Dean Research Studies Prof Rajni Kant along with the Coordinator Prof Satya Paul for the North Zone representation from Jammu University.
The Anveshan programme is organized by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) for the young researchers and students in the country every year to identify and nurture the young talents of India. The conventions are organized in five zones (East, West, North, South and Central) in five different subject areas; Agricultural Sciences, Basic Sciences, Engineering and Technology, Health Sciences, and Social Sciences. These young researchers who have qualified zonal level competition will now represent North Zone and compete for National level in the Anveshan to be held at Ganpat University, Gujarat.
