JU to host NZ Inter-University, Inter-Zonal Tournaments in Badminton, Handball

JAMMU, Apr 30;  University of Jammu for the first time in its history has been granted three prestigious events by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) after examining track record of last five years.
This was stated by the Vice-Chancellor, University of Jammu, Prof Mohan Paul Singh Ishar while addressing media persons, here today.
Prof Ishar said that this is because of the constant efforts of the University and Directorate of the Sports and Physical Education that the University is on the National Map of Sports.
Thanking AIU for considering the University of Jammu for organizing these events, Prof Ishar said that the University will leave no stone turned for successful organization of the event.
Earlier, Prof Ishar said that this event will give impetus to the Sports and Physical Education in the University.
Dwelling on the broad detail on the event, Prof Dhian Singh Bhau, Director Sports and Physical Education said that the University of Jammu had applied for North Zone Inter-University Badminton (Men & Women) and North Zone Inter-University Hand Ball (Men & Women) Championship, however, keeping in view the outstanding record of the University, AIU in addition to the Inter University Handball and Badminton also allotted Inter Zonal (Men & Women) Championship in one session.
Prof Bhau also requested concerned Colleges of the region to start selection process of the best players to provide them sufficient coaching.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were Jai Kumar Sharma, Special Secretary to VC, Vinay Thusso, Public Relations Officer, JU and P D Singh, hockey coach.
