JAMMU, Oct 2: Good all-round show by the trio of skipper Rajesh Salhotra, Vishal Sudan and Pawan Singh Bhau guided Jammu University to a narrow win by 12 runs over Excise and Sales Tax Department led by former Ranji Trophy skipper Vidhya Basker at Varsity ground, here today.
Batting first, Jammu University Employees team scored 132 runs for the loss of 5 wickets. Vishal Sudan and Rajesh Salhotra were the main contributors who made 48 and 29 runs respectively. In reply, Excise Department bundled-out for 120 runs, thus lost the match by 12 runs. For Excise Department, Gautam scored 33 runs, while Ravi contributed 20 runs to the total. For JU, Rajesh Salhotra and Pawan Singh Bhau took 3 wickets each, while Avtar took 2 wickets. Balwant Singh and Niranjan Singh also claimed one wicket each.
This is JU’s 24th victory out of 27 matches played at Varsity ground under the captaincy of Rajesh Salhotra.
