JAMMU, Mar 19: ‘Holi Ke Rang’ a poetic symposium of wit and humour, was impressively organized by the Department of Students Welfare in association with the Students Cultural Council, University of Jammu, in connection with the Holi Festival.
KK Shakir, a veteran poet and prolific writer, was the chief guest on the occasion, while Prof NK Tripathi, Dean Students Welfare, presided over the function.
In his presidential remarks Prof Tripathi, said that poetry is an imaginative awareness of experience, expressed through memory, sound and rhythmic language choices so as to evoke an emotional response.
The Scholars and Students who enthralled the audience with their poems included Manoj Heer, Sapna Narania, Bavita Kumari, Ritu Raj Sharma, Yash Brahmanu and Poonam Sharma.
KK ‘Shakir’, Rakesh ‘Tript’, PL Parihar, Krishan Kumar and Vijay Atri, also recited their poems.
Manoj Heer presented the poem entitled “Satrangi Peeng” “Holi aie Paye Holi aie” and “Soch”, Mann Karda Main Uddri Jan, Aisi Jagah Phi Pujji Jan”, Babita Kumari recited the poem “Rang” – “Oh Rang Doldaa Jaa Karda, aeh Khid-Khid Kardee Assa Di”, Sapna Narania in the poem “HOLI” described the holi festival as “Albeli ai Mastani ai, Holi Rangen di Rani aie”, Ritu Raj Sharma in his poem pointed towards the present scenario of our society where the minorities are unsafe “Ghatt Ginti Mehfooz Nayeen Jithen, Changi Koi News Nayeen Jithen”, Yash Brahmanu in his piece of poetry reflected the mad race of the younger generation towards the western culture- “Loko fashion Dikkhiai Batoi Gaya”.
Krishan Kumars’ poem entitled “Sita aur Lakshman Rekha” was a clear message to the women folk that they have to cross the “Lakshman Rrekha”. PL Parihar presented a satire- “Neele Peele Mor Saintri Nachde Sadko Sadka, Kul Tihadi Damde Soken, Hathen Phariae Radkan”, Rakesh Tript’s poem “Malhar Rangen Di” drenched everybody with the colours of holi – “Bura Nayen Manao Tus, Ajj Holi aie, Gale Kanney Mili Jaaoo, Dil Kholi aie” and Vijay Atri presented the poem “Navjaat Shishuon Par Filmon Ka Prabhav” depicting the impact of films on the newly born babies.
Among others, Sunil Sharma, Nidhi Kaila, Secretary, Students Cultural Council, Anshu Bala, Joint Secretary, SCC were present on this occasion.
