JAMMU, Aug 28: The Directorate of Sports & Physical Education, University of Jammu, Jammu organized Inter-Collegiate Cross Country (Women) Championship 2018-19 at Jammu University Campus, here today.
Fourteen athletes from 7 colleges took part in the Championship.
Darshana Devi of GCW Parade clinched Gold Medal by completing the race in 31.20.51 minutes, while Kashu Devi of PG Department University of Jammu and Toshi Devi of GDC Kathua claimed 2nd and 3rd positions by completing the race in 35.42.74 minutes and 36.45.90 minutes respectively.
Dr Meenakshi Kilam, Registrar, University of Jammu was the chief guest on the occasion, who flagged off the race and also awarded medals to the winners.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were Suman Sharma, GCW Parade, Pardeep Singh (GCW Kathua), Dr Vinod Bakshi (GCW Gandhi Nagar), Balbir Singh (GDC Samba), Munish Charak (GDC Kathua), Amit Sharma (GCW Gandhi Nagar), Shajad Ali, GDC Bishnah, Gagan Kumar, Ravish Vaid, Vikas Karlopia, PD Singh and Jai Bharat.
Dr. Komal Nagar Assistant Director, Director, Directorate of Sports & Physical Education, University of Jammu conducted the proceedings of the function and also presented vote of thanks.
The event was conducted by Romesh Sharma, retired SAI Coach, Gurcharan Singh (Athletics Coach), Nirmal Singh (Athletics Coach), Harsimran Singh (Athletics coach), Raj Kumar Bakshi and students of MPEd and BPEd, under the overall supervision of Dr Daud Iqbal Baba, Director, Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu, here.
