JAMMU, Mar 28: The University of Jammu Korfball mixed team once again showed its high performance and grabbed the 3rd position in the All India Inter-University Korfball (Mixed) Tournament 2021-22, organized by the Savitribai Phule Pune University, Pune from March 20 to 24.
The team players who brought laurels for the Jammu University including Hritik Khullar, Neeraj Manhas, Hritik Sharma, Ajay Sharma, Jagmohan Singh Jamwal, Aryan Dev Singh, Ayoush, Pranshu Thakur, Kiran Kour, Manisha Manhas, Roshni Mahajan, Ujala Mahajan, Shivani Sharma, Komal, Sudhashi Khajuria and Lakshika Jamwal, while Manjeet Singh and Sumriti Slathia were part of the team as coach and manager respectively.
In knockout matches, JU team got walk over against University of Calcutta, while JU team beats RTMNU Nagpur by 11-4, Dr B R Ambedkar University by 9-5 as well as LPU Phagwara by 9-7 respectively, whereas in league matches, JU team trounced MDU Rohtak by 9-5.
Kiran Kour of University of Jammu was adjudged player of the tournament in women section for her extraordinary performance in the whole tournament.
An Interaction-cum-Photo session with the medal winners was organized in the VC secretariat in which Prof. Manoj Kumar Dhar, Vice Chancellor University of Jammu. Prof Dhar in his address congratulated the Korfball team and also advised the players that this is not the end of achievement. You must practice hard for achieving silver and gold medals in the coming years. He also lauded the efforts of the Directorate especially Dr Daud Iqbal Baba, Director Sports for this achievement.
