JU to face Punjabi University in Handball (Men’s) Final

JAMMU, Nov 18: University of Jammu (JU), Punjab University Patiala and Panjab University Chandigarh, Punjabi University Patiala entered in Handball (Men & Women) finals, respectively in the ongoing All India Inter-Zonal Handball (Men & Women) Championship 2014 – 15 organized by the Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu.
Earlier, quarterfinal matches were played in the morning session while semi-finals were played in the evening session.
In Quarter final matches played today in Men’s Section, University of Jammu registered win over LNIPE Gwalior by 35 – 28 points. RTMNU Nagpur defeated VBSPU Jaunpur by 47 – 42 points, PU Chandigarh thrashed Solapur University, Solapur by 37 – 30 points and Punjabi University, Patiala defeated Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra by 25 – 10 points.
In Men’s semifinals, University of Jammu defeated RTMNU Nagpur by 32 – 26 points while Punjabi University, Patiala registered win over PU Chandigarh by 28 – 24 points.
In Women’s Quarter finals, Punjabi University thrashed LNIPE, Gwalior by 37 – 08 points, Delhi University defeated Kannur University by 28 – 20, Panjab University, Chandigarh registered win over University of Calicut 26 – 11 and LPU Phagwara thrashed Pt RSS University, Raipur by 34 – 22 points.
In Women’s Semi-finals, Punjabi University, Patiala defeated Delhi University by 28 – 07 points while Panjab University Chandigarh thrashed LPU Phagwara by 25 – 22 points.
The matches were officiated by Dev Raj, Handball Coach, Sanjeev Singh, Kapil Sagotra, Govind Ram, Gourav Sharma, Vikas Sharma, Karun Magotra, Kartar Dogra, Lakhwhinder Singh, Kaushal Dikshit, Priya Charak, Ashish, Prabhleen Kour, Pooja Sharma, Rahul Bakshi, Jeevenjot and Reva Rajput.
All the matches were played under the direct supervision of Prof Dhian S Bhau, Director, Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu, Jammu.
