JAMMU, Nov 28: Defeating DDU, Gorakhpur in the semifinals by a big margin of 66 runs, Jammu University Employees Cricket Team sealed berth in the finals of the All India Vice Chancellors T20 Cricket Cup at Gorakhpur in Uttar Pradesh, today.
Batting first, Jammu University scored a decent total of 154 runs in the stipulated 20 overs, losing 9 wickets in the process. Ameet Targotra top scored with 38 runs, while Vishal Sudan contributed 29 runs to the total. Skipper Daud Iqbal and Raj Kumar Bakshi chipped in with 22 and 19 runs respectively. For DDU University, Varnandla took 3 wickets, while Manish, Surender and Santosh claimed 2 wickets each.
In reply, DDU University got bundled out for 88 runs, thus lost the match by 66 runs. Rahul, Ramesh and Sharadh contributed 15, 13 and 10 runs respectively. For Jammu University, Raj Kumar Bakshi was the pick of the bowlers, who bagged 4 important wickets by conceding 13 runs in his 4 overs, while Lucky and Daud Iqbal took 2 wickets each. Rajesh and Ameet claimed one wicket each. Raj Kumar was adjudged as man of the match for his brilliant all-round show.
