JAMMU, July 19: JP World School (JPWS) Channi Himmat, Jammu today organized an Inter House English Debate Competition at Globe Auditorium in school premises.
The objective of the competition was to sharpen critical thinking analytical and communicative skills of the students. The students of classes 5th to 10th participated in it under three different categories- sub junior, junior and senior.
“Homework should be banned in schools”, “History is an important subject for the school students” and “Technology is the key to success” were the topics of the debate for sub junior, junior and senior categories, respectively.
Jitinder Singh Hundal, the school principal played the role of the chairperson of the debate. He invited the contestants on the stage to express their views liberally on the given topics. They were assessed on the basis of their confidence, reasoning and evidence, expression and delivery, listening and responding, etc.
Amara, Fawad and Shivi in senior category emerged as winners while Pushvinder, Lawanya and Wasif in junior category and Maria, Robinder and Khusmeet in sub junior category were declared as 1st runners up and 2nd runners up, respectively.
Ravi House lifted the overall Inter House English Debate Trophy while Tawi House stood 1st Runner up.
