J&K’s Sumitpal, Prinkle shine in Asian U-14 Tennis

JAMMU, May 4: Ace tennis players of Jammu and Kashmir, Sumitpal Singh and Prinkle Singh kept their State’s flag high in Om Devli Memorial Asian Under-14 Tennis Series by winning doubles events in their respective groups at Ballewari Stadium in Pune.
In boys final, the duo of Sumitpal Singh and Prikshit Somani drubbed Kotak Kunj and Kabir Manrai by (6-1, 6-1), while in semifinals, they defeated Sidant Bantia and Uttarkarsh Bhardwaj by (6-2, 7-5) and in quarter-final Sumitpal and Parikshit got better of Piyush Salekar and Atharva Sharma by (6-0, 6-2).
Earlier, in pre quarter-final, the duo trounced Aditya Iyer and Iyking Cumming by (6- 1, 6 -1).
However, in singles Under-14 Asian Ranking, Sumitpal reached semifinals only and lost to Parikshit Somani by (6 -4, 0- 6, 4 -6) and retained third position in tournament.
Meanwhile, Prinkle Singh and Zeel Desai pair outplayed Sathwic Sama and Swani Ingle by (6 – 7, 6 -2 10 – 7) via super tie-breaker in the finals, while in semifinals, Prinkle-Zeel drubbed Deea Sahai and Shivani by (6 – 1, 6 – 1).
Earlier, in quarter-final, Prinkle-Zeel pair beat Pareen-Tanvi duo by (6 – 1, 7 – 5) and in pre quarter-finals, the duo beat Shivani-Shivani pair by (7 – 6 , 6 – 3).
