SRINAGAR, Nov 14: Jammu and Kashmir’s Para Olympian, Amir Ahmad Bhat, a Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO) in the Indian Army from Anantnag district, has achieved the World No. 1 ranking in the P3 – Mixed 25m Pistol SH1 category, according to the latest World Shooting Para Sport Official Rankings 2025 released by the International Paralympic Committee.
Born in 1994, Bhat accumulated 721.55 points, surpassing top shooters from Korea, China, USA, and other leading nations, becoming the first Indian to attain World No. 1 in this category. At the WSPS World Cup 2025 in Al Ain, UAE, from October 25 to November 2, he clinched Gold in the 25m Sport Pistol Mixed Individual and Bronze in the 10m Standard Pistol Mixed Individual events.
Posting on X, the Indian Army Sports and Adventure Wing hailed Bhat’s achievement as a milestone for India’s para-shooting legacy. “WORLD NO 1 Subedar Amir Ahmad Bhat of #IndianArmy becomes the FIRST para?pistol shooter of India to reach World No?1 in P?3 Mixed 25m Pistol SH1 category, marking a milestone in India’s para?shooting legacy and strengthening the nation’s medal prospects for upcoming global events.”
Speaking to the media, Amir said, “Feeling happy to become World Rank 1. The goal is gold in the Olympics.” He credited the Indian Army, coaches, sports authorities, and his family for their unwavering support, noting that their encouragement has been pivotal in his journey. Amir now turns his focus to upcoming international competitions, aiming to strengthen India’s medal prospects at the Paralympics.
