JAMMU, May 6: Outplaying their respective rivals convincingly in the quarterfinals, JKP XI and Rainawari Cricket Club (RCC) Srinagar entered the semifinals in the ongoing 2nd Jammu Tawi T20 Cricket Tournament, being organized by Jammu Tawi Cricket Club at M A Stadium, here.
The Tournament is being organized by Jammu Tawi Cricket Club, under the supervision of organizing committee comprising of chairman, Raja Vivek; president, Sanjeev Sharma; vice president Neeraj Gupta and general secretary, Shashi Paul, the organizing secretary of the Tournament.
Earlier, in the first match, JKP XI defeated Samar Cricket Club by 29 runs to make it to the semifinals.
Batting first, JKP XI scored a decent total of 161 runs in the allotted 20 overs, losing 3 wickets in the process. Pankaj Ladda top scored with 56 runs, while Shashi Kumar, Avinash Jamwal and Farooq contributed 47, 27 and 16 runs to the total respectively. KK took 2 wickets, while Sourav and Naushad claimed one wicket each.
In reply, Samar Club managed to score 132 runs in the stipulated 20 overs, thus lost the match by 29 runs. Chetan Singh Chib and JB Singh were the main contributors with 34 and 20 runs respectively. For JKP XI, Rompy took 3 wickets, Shashi and Arvind bagged 2 wickets each and Sakib claimed one.
In another match, RCC Srinagar drubbed KC Sports Club by 7 wickets in an easy contest. Batting first, KC Sports Club scored a modest total of 101 runs in the stipulated 20 overs. Sahil Lotra top scored with 37 runs, while Amrit Pal Singh and Ateev Saini chipped in with 15 and 12 runs respectively. For RCC Srinagar, Amandeep Singh and Dilbagh Singh bagged 2 wickets each, while Kuldeep, Satish and Rahul Mussa claimed one wicket each.
SCC Akhnoor, while chasing the target managed to score 104 runs in the 16.5 overs by losing 3 wickets, thus won the match by 7 wickets. Deepak top scored with 37 runs, while Rahul Mussa contributed unbeaten 27 runs. Satish also chipped in with 20 runs. For KC Sports Club, Arjun Choudhary, Ramandeep Singh and Abhishek claimed one wicket each.
The matches were officiated by Sadiq Hussain, Suhail Yousuf, Sandeep Manchanda, Rajinder Singh and Bunty Kumar.
The winner of the Tournament will get a cash award of Rs 51,000 sponsored by Saraswati Agro Chemical Pvt Ltd, India.
