AKHNOOR, July 7: Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP) XI defeated Samar Cricket Club by 3 wickets to seal berth in the semifinals of the ongoing 5th Pawan Memorial T20 Cricket Tournament, being organized by Singh Cricket Club Akhnoor at Government Higher Secondary School Ground, here.
Earlier, batting first, Samar Club scored a modest total of 129 runs in the stipulated 20 overs. Sahil (25), Pranav (20), Pankaj (18) and Parmeet (16) were the main scorers. For JKP XI, Majid and Ashwani took 3 wickets each, while Sheetal bagged 2 wickets. Rompy and Shivdutt claimed one wicket each.
JKP XI, in reply chased the target in 18.4 overs, scoring 132 for the loss of 7 wickets, thus won the match by 3 wickets. Rompy was the top scorer with 45 runs, while Naresh and Nishant contributed 20 and 13 runs to the total respectively. Parmeet and Pankaj took 2 wickets each for Samar Club, while Pranav and Sourav Chopra claimed one wicket each. Rompy was declared man of the match for his fabulous knock.
The match was officiated by Sadiq Hussain and Vikas Bali as umpires, while Ajay Bhagat was the scorer.
