KATHUA, June 13: To inculcate sense of sportsmanship and improve stamina, motor-ability, patience and temperament among recruit trainees of police, as also enhance police-public relationship, the Police Training School (PTS) Kathua organized an exhibition T20 cricket match, under the supervision of its Principal RK Bhat at Sports Stadium, here today.
The match was played between JKP XI and Stadium XI Kathua.
Mushtaq Ahmed, Deputy Commissioner, Excise, Lakhanpur, was the chief guest on the occasion, while Illiyas, ETO Kathua was the guest of honour.
Earlier, batting first Stadium XI Kathua bundled out for 102 runs in 17.2 overs. Gurpinder was the top scorer with 25 runs, while Shiv Dutt, Prashant and Arvind contributed 12, 10 and 9 runs respectively. For JKP XI Ashwani scalped 3 wickets by giving away 27 runs in 3 overs, while Bhalwan was more economical, taking 2 wickets for 6 runs in his 3 over spell . Ishfaq also claimed one wicket.
JKP XI, in reply, chased the target in 19.1 overs by losing 6 wickets, and won the match by 4 wickets. Ashwani Kotwal played a magnificent innings of 49 runs off 48 balls, while Ishfaq and Bhupinder made 15 and 11 runs respectively. For Stadium XI Kathua, Himanshu bagged 2 wickets, while Shiv Dutt and Prashant claimed one wicket apiece. Ashwani Kotwal was adjudged man of the match for his all-round show.
