REASI, May 29: J&K Police (JKP) wrestler Bablu of Basantgarh (Akhara Roun Domail, Patha Rajinder Singh Ranyal) lifted 1st Shri Kote Devta Kesari Dangal Title by beating wrestler Babba of Kot Bhalwal Jammu (Akhara Domana) in a close contest that lasted for 19 minutes at Village Devigarh, Bhomag in district Reasi.
The Dangal was organized by Kote Devta Dangal Committee in association with J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association under the overall supervision of Sarpanch Pawan Singh and Pahelwan Gurdev Singh.
DDC Chairman District Reasi Saraf Singh Nag was the chief guest, who gave away cash prizes to the winner and runners-up wrestlers and witnessed the whole dangal. Shiv Kumar Sharma (president, J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association and former Joint Secretary, J&K State Sports Council) presided over the function. BJP District Reasi president Rohit Dubey was the guest of honour.
In all 70 bouts were played in this Dangal and an amount of Rs 2,75,000 distributed as cash prizes. The 1st malli (main bout) wrestler Bablu presented with a cash prize of Rs 30,000 along with a traditional “Gurj (Gadda) and Patta” while runner-up wrestler Babba got Rs 20,000.
In the second main bout, Kulbir Singh of Kot Bhalwal (Jammu) beat Zakker of Lallian in Punjab while the 3rd bout was won by Balwan Singh of Sheep Breeding Department who beat Dinu of RS Pura. The 4th bout fought between Madan Singh of Roun Domail Akhara and Raj from Raja Mandali Akhara (Jammu) ended in a draw while 5th bout was won by Chain Singh of Reasi which beat Billa of Patta (Jammu).
BJP District Reasi Senior Citizen Cell president Sudesh Pandotra, SHO Rajouri Nek Raj, Sarpanch Laldeep Singh, Sarpanch Des Raj, social activist Taj Singh, Sarpanch Kesari Singh and other prominent persons were present on the occasion.
