JAMMU, June 14: Defeating Challenger Cricket Club by a margin of 30 runs in the semifinals today, Jammu and Kashmir (JKP) XI sealed berth in the finals of the Salute and Tribute T20 Veteran Cricket Tournament and will take on Laxmi Cricket Club in summit clash, here tomorrow.
The tournament is being organized by Parade Sports Association at Parade Ground, here.
Earlier, batting first, JKP XI scored a fighting total of 145 runs in the stipulated 20 overs, losing 6 wickets in the process. Prashant was the top scorer with 39 runs off 33 balls, studded with 6 boundaries, while skipper Rajesh Gill contributed 32 off 27 balls with 6 fours. RK Bhat contributed valuable 20 runs off 17 balls with the help of 6 boundaries. For Challenger Club, Rajesh Verma, Shahid, Narinder Singh, Madan and Paramjeet Singh claimed one wicket apiece.
In reply, Challenger Club managed 115 runs in the stipulated overs by losing 8 wickets, thus lost the match by 30 runs. Paramjeet Singh scored 48-ball 48 runs, which included 5 boundaries, while Sachin Sharma contributed 40 runs to the total. Rajesh Verma also chipped in with 13 runs off 12 balls with 2 fours. Rajesh Gill was the wrecker-in-chief for JKP XI, who took 4 important wickets, while Sunil bagged 2 and Shamsher Singh and RK Bhat claimed one wicket each. Rajesh Gill was adjudged man of the match for his all-round show.
The match was officiated by JD Singh and Sadiq Hussain Malik as umpires, while Ajay Sharma was the scorer.
